Privacy Policy for Trial Shield

Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 12, 2025

Trial Shield ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and disclosed by the Trial Shield mobile application (the "App").

By downloading or using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Overview

Trial Shield is designed with a privacy-first approach. The core functionality of the App (managing subscriptions, tracking free trials, and calculating expenses) operates locally on your device. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not store your financial data on our servers.

2. Information We Collect

2.1. Local Data (User-Generated Content)

The specific details of your subscriptions (e.g., service names, prices, billing dates, notes, and categories) are stored locally on your device using an internal database (SQLite/Room).

  • We do not have access to this data.
  • This data is not transmitted to any external server maintained by us.
  • If you delete the App or clear your device data, this information will be permanently lost unless you have manually created a backup (Export JSON).

2.2. Automatically Collected Data (Third-Party Services)

While the App’s core data is local, we use specific third-party services to support the app through advertising and facilitate in-app purchases. These services may collect:

  • Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers (Advertising ID).
  • General Location: Approximate location data based on IP address (used solely for serving relevant advertisements).

We use the following third-party service providers:

  • Google AdMob: To display advertisements (for non-premium users). AdMob may collect and use the Advertising ID to serve personalized or non-personalized ads.
  • Google Play Services: To provide core Android functionality and security.

2.3. Financial Information

  • In-App Purchases: All payments for the "Premium" (Lifetime Access) version are processed directly through Google Play Billing. We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card numbers or banking information.
  • Subscription Entry: When you manually enter subscription costs into the App, that data stays on your device. We do not link to your bank accounts or read your SMS messages.

2.4. Biometric Data

If you enable the Biometric Lock feature, the App utilizes the Android Biometric API (Fingerprint or Face Unlock) to authenticate you.

  • The App does not store or process your actual biometric data (fingerprint or face map).
  • Authentication is handled entirely by the Android System, which simply reports a "Success" or "Fail" result to the App.

2.5. Clipboard Data

The App includes a "Smart Paste" feature that allows you to paste subscription details from your clipboard. This data is processed locally on your device to parse the text. It is never uploaded to any server.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To Provide Service: To store your subscription list and calculate your monthly spending on your device.
  • To Send Notifications: To alert you of upcoming bills or expiring free trials via local push notifications.
  • To Display Ads: Serving relevant advertisements (via AdMob) to support the free version of the App.
  • To Process Payments: Facilitating the purchase of the Premium version via Google Play.

4. App Permissions

The App requests specific permissions to function correctly:

  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required to send you reminders about expiring trials and payment dates.
  • SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Required to ensure notifications arrive at the exact time you set (e.g., 9:00 AM).
  • USE_BIOMETRIC: Required to unlock the app if you enable security features.
  • INTERNET / ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required by Google AdMob and Google Billing to function.

5. Data Retention and Deletion Policy

  • Local Data: Since your subscription data is stored locally, you have full control. You can delete individual subscriptions or use the "Delete All Data" option in the Settings menu to wipe the database instantly. Uninstalling the App will also delete all local data.
  • Ad Data: Data collected by Google AdMob is retained according to Google's privacy policies.

6. Children’s Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our records. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.

7. Security

We value your trust in providing us with your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
